Anyway, if you must know....
My name is Valerie and I am a college graduate student at
the University of Maryland at College Park.
I am currently interested in particular, GIS applications in remote sensing, and active system satellite platform multispectral capabalities.
I am also interested in applying remote sensing with astro radiometry, to detect areas in outer space where black holes might be present.
On the non-academic side, I enjoy watching gymnastics, and figure skating, and want to take
lessons in gymnastics. I have played the piano since I was 7, to which all those long practice
hours banging away, and all that money my mom spent on formal lessons, all basically have gone
to playing somewhat regularly during the Sunday morning services at our local church First Alliance Church(Silver Spring, MD).

I enjoy reading any kind of book you throw at me (except those boring "scientific review journals", talk about dry...ooops)
Anyway, I mostly enjoy reading science fiction, especially Star Trek novels and anything by author Douglas Adams of the Hitchiker series. Am currently addicted to
Lord of the Rings fanfiction (thanks to the movies which reminded me why I loved those books in the first place) and the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.
Favorite food: Chinese food
Least favorite food: obergine (if you don't know what it is, count yourself blessed! :) )
Favorite style of music: I like ALL types except elevator music, country, and rock, heavy metal, and polka

it on the radio and was like, "Oh, Evanescence has a new song out?" and then I heard a guys voice and was like, "Who's copying Evanescence?" And then I heard the announcer say
that it was the Backstreet Boys and I was like, "What band stole their name? Don't they know that name is taken?" Believe you me, I was shocked beyond comprehension when I saw the video, I mean I was like
, "You know, I may hate the Backstreet Boys with a passion that matches my dislike of bilge water, but I really, really, really like this song!! It's different, and is an actual honest-to-goodness real song! No poppy, jingly
stuff!
Favorite song: Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen Yes, yes I know this is not a "new" song, but Constantine, a contestant on the hit
reality TV show American Idol recently sang his version of it, and I LOVED it!!! I have since acquired the sheet music for it and play it constantly much to the consternation of both my parents and my sister.
Least Favorite song: Mr. Lonely by Akon who is waaaayyy overrated, I mean, first off, it's a rip off of a much older song by Bobby Vinton who sang it MUCH better, and two, why the heck is Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks singing in the background?
Can anyone tell me why????? As one critic put it, "Nevermind the song, but the whole album is self-pity. First, [Akon]'s Locked Up. Now, he's Lonely. What's next? Leprous? Can't you just hear the lyrics? 'Baby, my toes fell off. Baby my hair fell out'." Also, Akon is a RAPPER not a singer. His voice is average at best. I mean, just think of it this way. Just how far would Akon have gone if he were to try out for American Idol? I mean Simon Cowell would have a field day!!!!!
